Quandre Diggs 'Super Confident' in Seahawks Bounce Back

Seattle Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs believes better days are ahead after a disappointing Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Rams

Week 1 of the NFL season is always an exciting time, but for the Seattle Seahawks, it was far from an ideal opening.

Facing off against the NFC West rival Los Angeles Rams, the Seahawks were moderate favorites and eager to kick off their season on the right foot. Instead, Seattle completely shut down in the second half en route to a 30-13 loss at home on Sunday. The offense had a particularly rough showing, gaining just 180 total yards on the day and one first down in the second half.

As disappointing as the opener was, one game does not define an entire season. Safety Quandre Diggs is still very confident in the Seahawks, and he believes they will bounce back next week.

“Super confident. I don’t lose faith that I have in my team over one week," Diggs told reporters after Sunday's game. "I think we will be fine, sometimes it’s good to have a wake-up call early in the season and we got it over with now. We got punched in the chin, we have to see how we come out and fight, and come out and fight next week.”

For Diggs, Sunday's loss serves as a learning experience. The Seahawks' goals for the season remain intact, but this game served as a harsh reminder that they still have a long way to go.

“We have a lot to learn, we came in and they had a great gameplan for us and we didn’t execute the way we were supposed to," Diggs said. "Hats off to them, we have to get back in the lab and get back to work, that all it is. It’s week one of the season out of a 17-game season, we weren’t going to win the Super Bowl week one. At the end of the day, we lock in, we fix what we need to fix, and we come to work with a worker’s mentality.”

As a silver lining, the Seahawks have been able to overcome rough starts in the past. For example, Seattle started the 2015 season 0-2 after losses to the then-St. Louis Rams and Green Bay Packers, but rebounded to finish 10-6 and make the divisional round.

Similarly, the 2023 Seahawks will be looking to get back on track when they visit the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
