Ranking Seahawks 2020 Roster: No. 8-7

With the calendar flipping to July, NFL training camps will begin around the league in a matter of weeks. To celebrate the new incoming season, we will be ranking each player on the Seahawks 90-man roster. These rankings won't simply be based on pure talent. Positional importance, salary, standing on the depth chart, and draft positioning will be among a number of factors considered as we introduce each member of the squad.

8. Quinton Dunbar, Cornerback, #22

Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 202 pounds

2019 Stats: 37 tackles, four interceptions, and eight passes defensed in 11 games

Formerly a receiver at Florida, Dunbar transitioned to the cornerback position after signing with Washington as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He spent his first three years with the team primarily in a reserve role before vaulting into the starting lineup in 2018, intercepting two passes in six starts before landing on season-ending injured reserve. Flashing potential during that limited stint, he remained a starter last season and looked well on his way to his first Pro Bowl with three interceptions in the first four games of the season. Unfortunately, the injury bug bit him again last December, as he missed the final five games of the year with a hamstring strain. Still, he wrapped up his best NFL season with four picks and nearly double-digit passes defensed on just 55 targets, earning himself the second-highest overall grade for a cornerback behind Richard Sherman courtesy of Pro Football Focus.

Where He Fits Into Seahawks 2020 Plans: Right now, it remains unknown whether or not Dunbar will even be able to travel to Seattle for the start of training camp due to an ongoing armed robbery case in Florida and it's possible he could receive discipline from the league office. But if he's given clearance to report and isn't placed on the commissioner's exempt list, the Seahawks traded for him for a reason and he should still be the favorite to start across from Pro Bowler Shaquill Griffin in the secondary.

7. DK Metcalf, Receiver, #14

Height/Weight: 6-foot-4, 229 pounds

2019 Stats: 58 receptions, 900 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns in 16 games

Free falling to the end of the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft due to concerns about his route running and agility skills as well as durability questions, Metcalf silenced doubters during his rookie season with the Seahawks. Wowing coaches and teammates alike upon his arrival to offseason workouts, the ex-Ole Miss standout climbed up the depth chart as Seattle's No. 2 receiver in training camp and made an immediate impact with 89 receiving yards in his NFL debut. Though he battled drops at times and also lost three fumbles, he rapidly developed a rapport with Russell Wilson and finished with the second-most receiving yards and receiving touchdowns by a rookie in franchise history. Shining in the national spotlight, he then shattered the single-game rookie playoff record for receiving yards by a rookie with a 160-yard explosion against the Eagles in the Wild Card round and totaled 219 receiving yards on 11 receptions in two postseason outings.

Where He Fits Into Seahawks 2020 Plans: Possessing a rare combination of size, athletic gifts, and work ethic, the sky truly looks to be the limit for Metcalf heading into his second NFL season. If he can continue to make improvements as a route runner, cut down on his drops, and be more consistent creating yardage after the catch, he has the potential to push for a Pro Bowl bid in 2020 and could emerge as one of the best young targets in the league.
