Losing Andy Weidl? The Pittsburgh Steelers' biggest rival is going to try and make that happen.

In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers made a big splash last offseason when they replaced Kevin Colbert with Omar Khan and brought in Andy Weidl as the assistant general manager as well.

Not everyone was expecting two GM hires to happen during the process, but landing Weidl seemed like a steal for Pittsburgh. And after watching a second Philadelphia Eagles team play in the Super Bowl - a second team Weidl helped build - Steelers fans became very excited about where the assistant GM could take the team.

There are people who want Weidl out, though. Not many, if any, in Pittsburgh, but some within the division. Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta has vowed to do everything he can to get Weidl away from the Steelers organization.

"We have so much respect for those guys. And we’re very, very proud of Andy," DeCosta told The Athletic's Mike DeFabo. "My goal would be that he gets out of there sooner than later and he gets the chance to be a GM. We’re all going to help him as much as we can just to get him out of the division."

Weidl and DeCosta have a history together, as the Steelers assistant GM spent 11 years in Baltimore before heading to Philadelphia. And during that time, he showed the Ravens' exactly what makes him so dangerous being in the division.

"When you call a school and you ask about players, these coaches oftentimes have a vested interest in making the guy sound really, really good," DeCosta told DeFabo. "The difference with Andy is he’s built these relationships over time. A lot of times, he’s getting information that’s more accurate than most teams."

The Steelers are going to do everything they could to keep their assistant GM around long-term, even if that means fighting off their AFC North rival's help.
