Former Steeler Compares Kenny Pickett to Tom Brady

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a Tom Brady quarterback?

PITTSBURGH -- This season, Kenny Pickett has help lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 6-3 record without out-gaining an opposing offense, and with all six wins coming within one score/possession.

It hasn't been clean by no means, but the Steelers are winning, a half a game back in the AFC North and pretty optimistic about their chances the rest of the way. And despite plenty of outside criticism about Pickett's play, one former player sees a comparison with the greatest quarterback of all time.

"As a fan, as a scout, as a former player, I'm looking for someone like Kenny [Pickett]. Kenny don't come around too often in the fourth quarter, and the one thing that we do know about Kenny, if you need a drive late in the game, Kenny gonna wake up, and that's hard to find," Steelers former cornerback Ike Taylor said on his podcast Bleav in Steelers.

Taylor doesn't care what others have to say about the situation. In his mind, Pickett embraces what it means to be a Steeler and has that "Tom Brady trait" to keep winning.

"For me, Kenny is the perfect fit for the Pittsburgh Steelers," Taylor said. "They can say what they wanna say about what a prototypical quarterback should look like and all the traits that they need to have. Man, give me that Tom Brady trait! And I'm not saying that Kenny is even close to Tom; I'm just saying a trait, and I know with three-and-a-half to two minutes left, and the game is close, Kenny gonna close out the game. He's gonna make that drive, and he's gonna put some points on the board."

PIckett is 13-8 as the Steelers starting quarterback, and but has thrown 13 touchdowns to 13 interceptions during his career. Still, Pittsburgh isn't giving up on him anytime soon, and Taylor agrees that they shouldn't.
