4 players on the bubble to make Steelers 53-man roster

Tuzar Skipper
Tuzar Skipper continues to look better with each week. Somehow, a player who had no chance of making the roster is becoming one of the most difficult players to cut.
Anthony Chickillo seems to be safe, but that last remaining linebacker spot is definitely up for grabs. Ola Adeniyi was believed to be the man making a splash this season, but his unexpected meniscus surgery could leave the door open for Skipper.
With one preseason game remaining, Skipper is the man to watch. If he puts up another strong effort, or finds himself on special teams like he told the media he'd like to play, he may sneak into that roster spot.
Marcus Allen/Jordan Dangerfield
Marcus Allen was hoping to be the backup safety in 2019. Jordan Dangerfield believed this was the year of his NFL breakout. Kameron Kelly thought he was going to compete in the AAF playoffs.
The offseason started differently for all three of the Steelers defensive backs, and none of them finished as hoped.
Since the beginning of the preseason one thing has been clear - Kameron Kelly is the Steelers third safety. The former AAF stud for the San Diego Fleet found himself in Pittsburgh in an unusual way, but he's taken advantage of his opportunity.
Now, the two players who started on the roster before Kelly are fighting for their jobs. Unless either of them come out with an eye-popping performance in Week 4, neither of them will find a spot on this final roster.
Zack Gentry
The fifth-round draft choice in May had higher hopes for his role with the Pittsburgh Steelers. With Jesse James heading to Detroit, the backup tight end role was up for grabs in June.
His lack of production during camp and the preseason set him back, while Xavier Grimble secured the second spot behind Vance McDonald.
At this point Gentry just needs to not lose the third-string spot. Chances are the Steelers won't cut him without having a reliable replacement, but you never know who's going to have a breakout . game in Week 4.
Diontae Spencer
The fans love the storyline of Diontae Spencer coming from the CFL and earning a spot on an NFL roster. If someone is going to come from nothing and make a splash in this league, Pittsburgh is usually the place to do it.
Does that mean Spencer will? Well, even if the wide receiver does make the roster, he'll be playing behind six wideouts with secured spots in the team's gameplan.
There's still a shot Spencer finds himself on the roster come Week 1. He needs to secure that future during the final week before cuts.
