Cowboys-Ex Noah Brown Making 'Great Transition' With Texans

After five seasons with the Cowboys, wide receiver Noah Brown is making a great transition with the Houston Texans.

HOUSTON — Noah Brown had to wait until the seventh round before hearing his name called during the 2017 NFL Draft. The Dallas Cowboys made Brown the No. 239 pick, and though it took a while, he would eventually establish himself as a productive wide receiver.

But as Brown prepares for his sixth season, he will no longer have the chance to play for “America’s Team.” Instead, Brown will continue his career suiting up a few hours south of his former team as a member of the Houston Texans.

"It’s been a great transition," Brown said. "I think we’ve got a great offense, [a] great coordinator [Bobby Slowik] with some creative concepts. We’ve got a young receiver room with a lot of guys who can do a lot of different things, so I think this year we’re going to surprise a lot of people, and I’m looking forward to being a part of it."

The Texans acquired the 27-year-old receiver at the start of free agency in March. He is coming off a career year with the Cowboys, where he took the helm as the team's No. 2 wide receiver.

Brown finished with a career-high 555 yards on 43 catches with three touchdowns. His on-field contributions helped the Cowboys finish the regular season 12-5 while advancing to the divisional round.

Coach DeMeco Ryans has described Brown as a consistent player whose production has not been surprising.

His best day of training camp took place on July 27, when he finished the day with multiple catches. Brown's best catch came during 11-on-11 when he completed a pass attempt from quarterback C.J. Stroud while executing a dig route falling out of bounds.

"I have seen consistency, he has been the same guy from the first day of OTAs to now," Ryans said. "What Noah has done, he has built trust from his quarterbacks. It's the trust that where a quarterback puts the ball, Noah is going to go out there and make a play."

Brown's top objective is to replicate the success he experienced in Dallas. While on the cusp of making his Texans debut Thursday night against the New England Patriots, Brown will likely find success accomplishing his goal in 2023.
