Deshaun Watson knows something about massive QB contracts and the Texans ex has something to say about Jalen Hurts' record-breaking contract with the Eagles.

Along with the bonding that naturally occurs within a team, NFL players also generally view themselves as part of a bigger "brotherhood.'' But there is a subset of that ... because quarterbacks are different.

Unique position. The most important job. And the most incredible money. All of that puts QBs in their own "club,'' of sorts ... and Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles just joined a new level of the club when the two parties this week agreed to terms on a five-year, $255 million contract extension.

And guess who approves? None other than former Houston Texans QB, who himself happens to be in possession of the most unusual contract of them all, as while Hurts' extension makes him the highest-paid player in NFL history on an annual basis ($51 million APY), the record for most guaranteed money in a deal is still held by Browns quarterback Watson, who received a $230 million fully guaranteed deal from Cleveland in 2022 when he exited Houston via a blockbuster trade.

This week, Watson was asked about Hurts' record-breaking contract. His response: "He deserves every penny."

Watson, who works out with his friend Hurts in the offseason, congratulated his buddy Hurts, who experienced an MVP-caliber season in 2022, throwing for 3,701 yards and 22 touchdowns, with 13 more touchdowns as a rusher.

As it turns out, their friendship is such that when the Eagles played in Cleveland last year, they went to dinner ... and it seems Watson paid. Next big night out? We assume Hurts will grab for the check.
