'Red Alert!': NFL Executive Warns Against Drafting Ohio State QB CJ Stroud

According to one NFL Executive, teams should steer clear of quarterback CJ Stroud in the draft.

The Houston Texans are in desperate need of an elite quarterback in this year's NFL Draft, and Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback seems like the natural choice. However, according to one report, Houston might want to steer clear of Stroud altogether, with an anonymous NFL executive already labeling Stroud as a 'bust'.

But why? Stroud is a two-time Heisman finalist and one of the most accomplished passers in Buckeyes history. Well, According to the executive, it is because of a low score on the S2 Test - a test that 'measures how players process and make split-second decisions.'

Stroud, according to this executive scored 18 percent on this test, which is apparently considered a major red flag. Meanwhile, other first-round quarterbacks such as Bryce Young (98 percent), Will Levis (84 percent), Anthony Richardson (79 percent) and Hendon Hooker (46 percent) all scored significantly higher.

“Stroud scored 18,” the executive told. “That is like red alert, red alert, you can’t take a guy like that. That is why I have Stroud as a bust. That in conjunction with the fact, name one Ohio State quarterback that’s ever done it in the league.”

So does this low score guarantee that Stroud will in fact be a failure at the NFL level? According to the executive - yes - it is now a 100 percent fact that Stroud will be a bust.

“Then they started doing it in football,” the executive told McGinn. “If you get a high score as a quarterback it’s not saying you’re going to be a great player. But if you get a low score, it’s 100% — none of the quarterbacks that got a low score became good playersThe benchmark is 80. Eighty and above is good. Stroud was 18. It’s incredibly terrible. He’s going to be off (some team’s) boards. He will not be picked by those teams.”

Whether or not this executive's predictions end up coming true, remains to be seen. However, one thing is clear - Stroud has the talent to succeed at the NFL level. And if anybody can buck the trend, the two-time Heisman finalist has a chance.
