'Finally!' DeMeco Ryans Embracing Texans Preseason Edge

In this story:
HOUSTON - The Houston Texans may have won their preseason opener on Thursday night against the New England Patriots.
But that doesn't necessarily mean everything has been smooth sailing for Houston since.
During camp practice on Sunday, linebacker Christian Harris and running back Devin Singletary exchanged words after a rough collision between the two.
And while things like this are typically not what coaches want to see from teammates, head coach DeMeco Ryans is embracing the new edge that his players are showing in camp.
"To see scuffling in training camp…I say 'Finally,' Ryans said on Sunday. ” We want to be safe, but it’s going to get a bit edgy and chippy…that’s how I want them to play…it shows they truly care about what they’re doing.”
Fights and scuffles are a common thing between players before the season begins.
After all, at a certain point given the violent nature of the game, particularly in the Texas heat, competitive juices begin to flow, and tempers can begin to flare.
However, the best teams also tend to be the ones with the sharpest edges, and Ryans knows as well as anybody setting a tone with that kind of toughness and competitiveness will only make his team stronger.
Now, the Texans will hope to parlay that competitive nature into a second-straight preseason win against the Dolphins on Saturday in front of their home crowd - something that Ryans hopes will set the tone or a successful beginning to his first season at the helm.
