The Tennessee Titans are in the midst of roster change - with the Houston Texans possibly in position to benefit from their AFC South rival's cap-related moves.

While some fans have called for veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill's job, the Titans on Wednesday first made different roster changes, releasing a few other veterans from their team, including left tackle Taylor Lewan.

And for the Texans — a division rival with a fresh set of coaches — Lewan could be a solid pickup in the offseason.

During the 2022 season, the nine-year veteran suffered a right knee injury that kept him sidelined for the year after just three games, which played into the Titans' decision to let him go — another being salary cap implications ahead of 2023.

In the year prior, however, Lewan and the rest of the offensive line helped Tennessee to a top-10 ranking in yards per carry for the season, as well as a top-five ranking in rushing yards and touchdowns.

Throughout his nine-year career — all of which he spent with the Titans — Lewan has been selected to three Pro Bowls, which came in three straight seasons from 2016-2018, but he has seen significantly less playing time after battling injuries in his later years.

Lewan's impact on the rushing game could prove highly beneficial for the Texans, who finished second-to-last in yards per carry in 2022.

The move would likely benefit young running back Dameon Pierce, with the risk to signing Lewan being about the injury question as he turns 32 this summer.
