After 5 years out of the NFL due to violations of the league's personal conduct and substance abuse policies, stemming from a DUI hit and run and a domestic violence incident, Dallas Cowboys linebacker Aldon Smith is back and excelling at the sport.

Smith currently leads the league in sacks, which is not only an impressive statistic in and of itself but this is coming from someone who has not played in five years. How has he managed to adapt and emerge as one of the best defensive players in the league after such an extended amount of time not playing?
