Power outage delays start of Steelers-49ers

Update: The game has now been delayed a second time, after the stadium lost power at the 12:13 mark of the second quarter.

A power outage at San Francisco's Candlestick Park delayed the start of the Monday Night Football game between the San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers. The stadium lost power approximately 25 minutes prior to kickoff, and it wasn't restored until about 20 minutes after the game was set to begin, according to the Associated Press.

There has been no explanation as to the cause of the outage, other than the fact that a transformer failed outside the stadium.

"So far I don't know what the cause is yet," a spokesman for Pacific Gas and Electric told the AP. "We do know that Candlestick was the only customer affected by this outage."
