The New England Patriots signed veteran tight end Bo Scaife, the team announced Thursday.

Scaife has been in the NFL for seven seasons. He spent the first six with the Tennessee Titans, starting most of four seasons with the team. In 2011, he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals but never played for the team.

The tight end has 251 catches and 12 touchdowns in 90 careers games. His best season was 2008 when he recorded 58 catches. The Patriots are already loaded at the tight end position. Rob Gronkowski is widely considered one of the best -- if not the best -- tight end in the league. The 23-year-old caught a tight end-record 17 touchdown passes last season. Aaron Hernandez, 22, caught 79 passes for seven touchdowns for New England in 2011.
