The New York Jets announced they have released veteran outside linebacker Bryan Thomas, reports the New York Daily News.

Thomas, 33, recorded one tackle this season and was working his way back from various injuries.

Thomas was listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins with a hamstring injury.

Thomas was a first-round pick by the Jets in the 2002 NFL Draft out of Alabama-Birmingham. The team signed cornerback Donnie Fletcher from the practice squad to fill the roster spot.

For his career, Thomas recorded 439 tackles, with 31 sacks and seven forced fumbles in 146 games with the Jets. The team could bring back Thomas because he is not on waivers.
