Brian Shaw a 'serious target' for Nets vacant coaching position

The Indiana Pacers' Brian Shaw is reportedly a "serious target" for the Brooklyn Nets' vacant coaching position, according to a report Tuesday from Marc Stein and Chris Broussard of ESPN.

The Nets, who parted ways with interim head coach P.J. Carlesimo after a Game 7 loss to the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the playoffs last month, will officially make a request for permission to interview Shaw now that the Pacers have been eliminated. Shaw played for 15 years in the NBA, winning three championships as a guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, and another two championships with the Lakers as an assistant coach under Phil Jackson from 2009-10.

According to the report, the Los Angeles Clippers, who decided not to renew head coach Vinny del Negro's contract for next year, are already in conversations with Shaw about possibly having him become Del Negro's replacement.

The report also states that the Nets have already asked for permission to speak with Memphis Grizzlies head coach Lionel Hollins, who led his team to the Western Conference Finals before they were swept by the San Antonio Spurs. Hollins has been given permission to speak with other teams but has said on several occasions that he prefers to remain with the Grizzlies.
