Hall of Famer and former New York Knicks center Patrick Ewing was hired by the Charlotte Bobcats as associate head coach, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. He'll join the coaching staff of recently hired head coach Steve Clifford.

Ewing served as an assistant coach for eight years from 2008-12 with Orlando and from 2003-08 with the Rockets. He has also interviewed for head coaching positions in the past -- the Bobcats in 2012 and Pistons in 2011.
