How to Watch Mahomes vs. Herbert on ‘TNF’
First Serena Williams, now Roger Federer? Another legend is retiring from competitive tennis, the end of a storied career that changed the sport for the better. There’s plenty of exciting young talent in the sport (see new world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz), but we’ll miss Roger.
Tonight, we’ve got a showdown of two of the best players in the NFL to kick off Week 2. Plus, the Aces go for the sweep in the WNBA Finals.
A quick note: Due to COVID-19, sports schedules are fluid and subject to change.
MUST WATCH:
Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs
We’ve got quite the quarterback battle in Kansas City tonight: Patrick Mahomes vs. Justin Herbert. The fact that we get this showdown at least twice a year for as long as both guys stay healthy and with their respective teams is a treat for football fans everywhere, especially given two of the first three meetings between these QBs have gone to overtime.
Have the Chargers beefed up their defense and offensive line enough to compete for the AFC West? A road win tonight would go a long way in proving they are a legitimate contender.

LINEUP:
• Chicago White Sox at Cleveland Guardians | If the White Sox are ever going to make a move and push for the AL Central crown, now is the time. With a four-game deficit entering the second half of September, Chicago desperately needs to take advantage of all four remaining matchups with the division-leading Guardians. They’ll send Lance Lynn to the mound this afternoon. 1:10 p.m. ET, MLB Network/NBC Sports Chicago/Bally Sports Great Lakes, watch on fuboTV
• Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays | There’s plenty of jockeying for position going on right now in the AL wild-card race, and the Rays get a chance to gain some ground on the Blue Jays this afternoon with ace lefthander Shane McClanahan taking the ball. Tampa’s resurgence, after looking like it could miss the playoffs, has been impressive. 3:07 p.m. ET, Bally Sports Sun/Sportsnet, watch on fuboTV
• Las Vegas Aces at Connecticut Sun | Can the Aces close out the WNBA title tonight? Las Vegas cruised in Game 2 after winning a grind-it-out Game 1, but the Sun have already survived three elimination games this postseason and won’t go down without a fight. That said, when all three of Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum and A’ja Wilson are playing like they are right now, it’s hard to imagine anyone beating the Aces in three straight games. 9 p.m. ET, ESPN, watch on fuboTV
HIDDEN GEM:
Pittsburgh Pirates at New York Mets
It’s imperative for the Mets’ World Series hopes that they hold on to the NL East crown, but they did themselves no favors in that pursuit this week by getting swept in three games by the lowly Cubs. Fortunately for New York, the Mets still hold a half-game edge in the division because of a pair of losses by the Braves, but things need to turn around fast. They get a crack at another bottom-feeder this weekend in the Pirates, who before this week’s sweep of Cincinnati hadn’t won a series since the first week of August.
