Miami Goes to Texas A&M Looking to Prove It Belongs

Plus, Nebraska begins the post–Scott Frost era.

We have another full college football slate to enjoy today. And there are some big games on the calendar, including a night game at Kyle Field and a ranked matchup in Eugene, Ore. Aside from football, Aaron Judge will look to inch closer to 61 homers in Milwaukee.

Here’s what I’m watching.

A quick note: Due to COVID-19, sports schedules are fluid and subject to change.

MUST WATCH:

College football: No. 13 Miami at No. 24 Texas A&M

The biggest game today in college football is a showcase for Miami. Where is Mario Cristobal’s program at? Yes, it’s just the third game of his tenure, but it feels like he’s been destined for this job. Ross Dellenger spoke to the Hurricanes’ coach, detailing his journey to take over at his alma mater as the bilingual son of Cuban immigrants who grew up right near campus.

HIDDEN GEM:

New York Yankees at Milwaukee Brewers

While Jameson Taillon vs. Brandon Woodruff is an excellent pitching duel, we all know why we’re tuning in for this interleague game: Aaron Judge. Tom Verducci puts Judge’s historic season in context:

“This season is defined by the intersection of forces in Judge’s career. Of the wisdom gleaned from those 12,000 pitches. Of the Yankees’ offering him a contract extension of $213.5 million just before Opening Day and then, to his disappointment, going public with the terms of it after he turned it down. Of his impending free agency. Of the advice he received from a former teammate about how to protect what had been his injury-prone body. Of accomplishing by July 28 the one goal this year that makes him proudest—and has nothing to do with hitting home runs.”

7:10 p.m. ET, MLB Network/YES/Bally Sports Wisconsin, watch on fuboTV
