The Twins have fired general manager Terry Ryan, the team announced Monday. Assistant GM Rob Antony will be the interim general manager.

Ryan was drafted by the Twins in 1972 and pitched four seasons in the minors for the club. After his playing days he began a career in talent evaluation, first with the Mets and later with the Twins.

He was hired as Minnesota’s general manager in 1994 and stayed for 12 seasons before stepping down in 2007. He returned to the team in 2011.

The Twins made the playoffs six times in Ryan’s first stint with the team but have not played in the postseason since 2010. They have the worst record in the American League this season at 33–58.
