Pirates pitcher Jameson Taillon continued pitching after taking a line drive to the head Tuesday.
Taillon was pitching in the top of the second when the Brewers’ Hernan Perez hit a 105-mph line drive of Taillon’s head. The ball was deflected into left field for a hit.
Trainers examined Taillon for several minutes before letting him return to the game.
Taillon made his first start Tuesday since a stint on the disabled list for fatigue in his right shoulder. Following Tuesday’s game, he tweeted about the incident:
Not exactly how I imagined today going when I got out of bed. But going to bed feeling extremely lucky. Thanks to everyone who reached out— Jameson Taillon (@JTaillon19) July 20, 2016
Taillon entered his Tuesday start with a 2–1 record and 3.86 ERA in five starts.
