2016 Diamond League schedule released for track and field

The full schedule for the 2016 IAAF Diamond League track and field meets has been announced.

Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the United States play host to 14 track and field meets that feature the world's top athletes.

Each meet will feature certain events that will be scored for the Diamond League race. At the end of the season, the athlete with the most points in the respective discipline is rewarded $40,000 and named the Diamond League champion. A first place finish earns four points for the standings. Second place notches two. Third place is awarded one point. The points are doubled at the Zurich and Brussels Diamond League meets.

May 28 – Eugene, USA
June 2 – Rome, Italy
June 5 – Birmingham, Great Britain
June 9 – Oslo, Norway
June 16 – Stockholm, Sweden
June 18 – New York, USA
July 15 – Monaco, Monaco
July 22 & 23 – London, Great Britain

(Track and field is contested at the 2016 Olympics from Aug. 5 to Aug. 13)

Aug. 25 – Lausanne, Switzerland
Aug. 27 – Paris, France
Sept. 1 – Zurich, Sweden
Sept. 9 – Brussels, Belgium
