Report: Cleveland Cavaliers to trade Alonzo Gee to New Orleans Pelicans

The Cleveland Cavaliers will trade swingman Alonzo Gee to the New Orleans Pelicans, reports CBS Sports' Ken Berger. The deal is a cost-cutting measure for both teams. 

The Cavs will send Gee and his non-guaranteed $3 million deal to the Pelicans, who will then waive him in order to clear space for the Omer Asiktrade. It is unclear what Cleveland will receive in return. The deal will clear space for center Brandan Haywood, who the Cavs are expected to acquire in a separate trade with the Charlotte Hornets, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

Gee averaged 9.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game last season in Cleveland.
