The Miami Heat have a big hole to fill at small forward after LeBron James announced Friday that he would be returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Miami talked to free agent forward Luol Deng's representatives in the hours after James' decision, according to a report from Sam Amick of USA Today.

It had been reported Deng would not take a discount to join the Heat. With only Norris Cole, Shabazz Napier, a newly re-signed Chris Bosh and free agent signees Josh McRoberts and Danny Granger on the roster, that may not be necessary. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported Deng was looking for a contract worth $12-13 million per year over four or five years.

Last season, Deng averaged 16 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in 63 games with the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers.
