Smith said he thinks a lot of players could come in, but that fitting in is "very difficult."

"Who would I like to see, since he's hurt, why don't we just bring in Kobe Bryant?" he said. "You know, he's played with Shaq [O'Neal] and that would be fun. To bring in Kobe and get those real locker room Lakers' stories about how their relationship was and they could kind of just pair that to all of the relationships that are going on with these superstars around the league."

Bryant and O'Neal were teammates in Los Angeles from 1996 to 2004, winning three NBA titles. O'Neal was then traded to the Miami Heat and retired after the 2010-11 season.

Bryant is expected to miss the rest of the 2014-15 season after undergoing surgery on a torn rotator cuff in January.
