Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive has considered the possibility of firing coach George Karl, reports ESPN's Chris Broussard.

Ranadive is displeased with Karl because Karl wants the team to trade center DeMarcus Cousins, according to Broussard.

A report from Yahoo! Sports earlier this week said Sacramento and the Los Angeles Lakers have discussed the frameworks of possible trades involving Cousins.

From ESPN:

During the hiring process, Karl told Ranadive he was looking forward to coaching Cousins. But shortly after taking over the team, sources say Karl soured on Cousins. The quick about-face baffled and upset Ranadive, sources said.

No firing is imminent, but in discussions with members of the Kings' basketball department, Ranadive has broached the subject of whether the team should get rid of Karl.

The Kings hired Karl in February. He replaced Tyrone Corbin, who had been serving as Sacramento's coach on an interim basis after the firing of Mike Malone last December.

Cousins, 24, just completed his fifth season with the Kings. He averaged 24.1 points and 12.7 rebounds and earned his first All-Star nod in 2014-15.
