Long before he became the best player in the NBA, Michael Jordan starred at Emsley A. Laney High School in Wilmington, N.C.

MaxPreps recently dug up previously unseen video of a teenage Jordan dunking on a fast break, wearing the familiar No. 23.

Laney later named the gym after Jordan, and Nike’s Jordan Brand recently helped renovate it, with new paint, new lights and pictures of MJ himself. The improvements were finished in time for an annual tournament featuring 50 local high school teams.

“I am very proud of Jumpman and Brand Jordan being a part of the tournament this year.” Laney basketball coach Nathan Faulk told WWAY in Wilmington. “We’re proud of what they’ve done to the gym. All the kids and participants and excited. It’s a good day to be a Buc.”
