• Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is “very confident” he’ll be proven innocent of the rape allegations against him.

• The Dallas Mavericks could be without guard Wesley Matthews until Christmas as he recovers from the ruptured Achilles he sustained in March as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers.

• Rookie point guard Emmanuel Mudiay, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, will start immediately for the Denver Nuggets.

Lakers guard Kobe Bryantrefuted the notion that he would play for another NBA team after this season, saying he’s "a Laker for better or worse,” Yahoo! Sports reports.

Spurs guard Manu Ginobili is unsure if he’ll retire after the season, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

• Forward Markieff Morris said he is happy to be with the Phoenix Suns at training camp. He had previously demanded a trade after the Suns traded his twin brother, Marcus, to the Detroit Pistons.

• Indiana Pacers forward Paul George said he believes he could win the MVP award this season.

• Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins called point guard Rajon Rondo a basketball “genius,” Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee reports.

• Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside said his goal for the season is to win Defensive Player of the Year, NBA.com reports.
