Rookie point guard Emmanuel Mudiay will start for the Denver Nuggets to begin the season, reports Matt Moore of CBS Sports.

“We're going to have a 19-year-old starting point guard,” Nuggets general manager Tim Connelly said Monday.

Mudiay, who was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft, will take over for longtime Nuggets starter Ty Lawson, who was traded to the Houston Rockets in the offseason.

Mudiay averaged 12 points and 5.8 assists for Denver during Summer League in Las Vegas.

The Nuggets, who were 30–52 last season, open the 2015–16 campaign on Oct. 28 in Houston.
