The Sacramento Kings will reportedly fire head coach George Karl in the coming days, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein.
The news about Karl’s expected firing emerged Friday after the Kings suffered an ugly 128–119 road loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Karl had lost support from the front office and around the locker room as of late.
Karl, 64, is the fifth-winningest coach in NBA history and has led the team for nearly a year, taking over from interim head coach Ty Corbin last February.
The Kings are currently in 10th place in the Western Conference standings with a 21–31 record.
Sacramento next plays against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET.
