In light of much criticism from former players, Allen Iverson praised Warriors guard Stephen Curry for his style of play this week, calling him “a whole different monster.”

Speaking at a Philadelphia 76ers event, Iverson spoke about the reigning MVP, and stressed how unique Curry is.

From Sixers.com’s Brian Seltzer:

“He’s incredible. He’s different. He’s different. He’s something we’ve never seen. We’ve never seen this. It’s crazy to me, like just me being the biggest Michael Jordan fan, to see somebody come around like this. I have my idea of being incredible, you know what I mean? But this dude right here, like it’s different.

“It’s a whole different monster, as far as his handle and the way he shoots? Come on. You know you ain’t never seen nothing like this.”

Curry’s ball handling skills and quickness, coupled with his elite shooting ability, have made him a tough cover over the past few years. He has drawn criticism from Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson and retired players Stephen Jackson and Cedric Ceballos who believe the Warriors’ success is a product of a modern style of play.

Curry responded in late February, calling the comments “a little annoying.”

The 27-year-old is on pace to break Wilt Chamberlain’s single-season record 31.82 PER.
