Derrick Rose seeking court costs from rape accuser
Wednesday November 16th, 2016

New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose is seeking a payment of $70,000 to cover court costs from a woman who accused Rose and two friends of sexual assault in a civil trial.

Last month, a nine-person jury in Los Angeles tossed out the woman's $21.5 million lawsuit, finding Rose and his two friends not liable. The woman claimed that Rose and others raped her in August 2013 while she was incapacitated from drugs or alcohol.

"After a two-week jury trial, unanimous verdict and judgment in their favor on all nine claims, Mr. Rose, Mr. [Ryan] Allen, and Mr. [Randall] Hampton are unquestionably the prevailing party entitled to the tiny fraction of the actual expenses they necessarily incurred in defending themselves against Plaintiff's false claims against them," court documents said.

According to the court documents obtained by the website White Bronco, the woman, whose named was not revealed, plans to appeal the verdict.

Rose's lawyers say that the accuser's claims are "false" and "incredulous," adding that the accusations are "incredibly damaging." The lawyers also question her claims that she is not financially able to pay the court costs should she be ordered to do so.
