There's nothing holding back Cam Newton from being Superman on the Panthers' practice field when training camp starts July 26.

Newton has been fully cleared to practice, general manager Dave Gettleman told reporters Thursday.

Newton had been recovering from left ankle surgery that limited his participation in offseason workouts. He had been bothered by his ankle since Carolina's playoff loss to San Francisco and said he "nicked" it against the Saints in Week 16.

The team also announced that running back Jonathan Stewart will still be out for one-to-two weeks with a pulled hamstring. The Panthers' fourth-round pick in 2013, guard Edmund Kugbila, will miss the upcoming season because of back surgery.
