Green Bay undrafted free agent tight end Colt Lyerla will miss multiple weeks with a knee injury, according to Green Bay Press-Gazette writer Wes Hodkiewicz.
Lyerla's knee was injured over the weekend, and the injury was originally described as a strain, according to Rotoworld. The athletic tight end went undrafted and was not affiliated with an NFL team until May when Green Bay signed him.
The former Oregon Duck caught 11 touchdown passes in his collegiate career but left school abruptly midway through his junior season for personal reasons. Three weeks later he was arrested for unlawful possession of cocaine.
It is not clear if Lyerla will be healthy enough to return in time for the Packers' 2014 season opener on Thursday, Sept. 4, against the Seahawks at Seattle's CenturyLink Field.
