San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernicksays criticism toward him, which he believes is unfair, is due to people judging him based on his appearance.

"Stereotypes, prejudice," Kaepernick told Bleacher Report. “Whatever you want to call it. I think between the tattoos, the way I dress, the way I talk."

Kaepernick signed a six-year, $126 million extension after throwing for 3,197 yards, 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions last season. He has led the 49ers to NFC Championship appearances in each of the past two seasons.

"I think it's a great deal for both sides," Kaepernick said. "The NFL is a performance-based business, so you should have to perform to earn some of your money."

He is 17-6 as a starting quarterback since taking over the job midway through the 2012 season.
