He is being held on suspicion of third-degree assault and harassment, two misdemeanors, according to The Denver Post.
Bowlen Jr., who works for the Broncos, was one of seven Bowlen children under consideration to take over ownership after Pat Bowlen stepped down in July after revealing he has Alzheimer's.
Bowlen Jr. was held overnight at Arapahoe County jail. His first court appearance was scheduled for 2 p.m. MT on Thursday.
The Broncos announced Bowlen has been placed on indefinite leave following the arrest, according to Lindsay Jones of USA Today.
