The New York Jets released rookie defensive tackle Deon Simon, the team announced Wednesday.

Simon, New York's seventh round selection in the 2015 draft, played four seasons at Northwestern State.

In 35 games with the Demons, Simon had 93 total tackles, with 13 1/2 coming for loss. He was limited during his senior season by a knee injury.

Simon, who had five tackles and one sack in the preseason for the Jets, had yet to appear in a regular season game this year.

The 25-year-old signed a four-year, $2.35 million rookie contract in May, which guarantees him $73,296.

The Jets (2–1) will face the Dolphins (1–2) on Sunday in London.
