Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan believes that his franchise has had the strongest off–season heading into training camp, according to the Buffalo News

“I can’t wait to get the season started,” Ryan said. “I’m just telling you right now: forget the vacation. I wish it was shorter. And I mean it. I’m excited about this team. Obviously a lot of things have to happen and we’re a month or so away. I told our players today to ‘Win July.’ We’ve won the off–season. I would challenge any team. I think we’ve won the off–season.”

Ryan is optimistic about his team’s direction so far in 2016, despite losing first-round pick Shaq Lawson to shoulder surgery and receiver Sammy Watkins to a broken foot.

Running back Karlos Williams, who carried the ball 93 times for 517 yards and seven touchdowns last season, also came into the off–season overweight.

Despite these factors, Ryan has seen strong performances from the players that have been on the field.

“It’s really so much further along than where we were,“ he said. “Almost, individually, you can see it that this guy's getting better.”

The Bills posted an 8–8 record last season, finishing third in the AFC East standings.
