New England Patriots offensive lineman Sebastian Vollmer is likely headed to the injured reserve, according to multiple reports

Ian Rapoport of reports that Vollmer underwent shoulder surgery and the recovery time will be too long for him to return this season.

Vollmer started training camp on the physically unable to perform list and did not participate before the surgery.

The 32-year-old started 13 games for New England last season, and has played in 88 games since 2009.

Marcus Cannon is currently listed behind Vollmer at right tackle on the Patriots’ depth chart.
