A 48-year-old man from North Granby, Conn., has been arrested and is facing multiple charges, including disorderly conduct, trespassing, possession of an electric stun gun and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon after police received reports of a suspicious man in the hours before the opening faceoff at the 2016 Winter Classic.
The items were obtained after police searched Matthew Bromson’s car in the Gillette Stadium parking lot. They included an electric stun gun, a meat cleaver and a large sword.
Bromson, the suspect, has a history with police in the area. He engaged in a nine-hour standoff with police in 2014 after they tried to serve him with an outstanding warrant at his home in Connecticut.
