MLS off-season tracker: Free agents, trades, re-entry draft, signings
The MLS off-season is officially underway, following the conclusion of MLS Cup, which was won by the Portland Timbers. And while it seems early to already consider the landscape of the 2016 season, the fact is that a number of major moves happen in the immediate aftermath of the league's championship game. Add in the wrinkle that this winter will include MLS's first foray into free agency, and some very recognizable names will have new addresses in the coming weeks (out-of-contract players 28 or older with eight or more years of MLS service are eligible for free agency).
Here is a running list of free agents, trades, and players eligible for the league's re-entry draft, as announced by the league on Monday. Keep in mind that out-of-contract players or re-entry draft-eligible players could wind up re-signing with their 2015 teams. Free agents were able to start negotiating with new clubs as of 1 p.m. ET on Dec. 8:
