Atletico Madrid beat Bayern Munich 1-0 in their Champions League semifinal first leg, with its goal coming in spectacular fashion.

In the 11th minute, Saul Niguez dribbled past several Bayern defenders and struck a left–footed shot past the outstretched arm of Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Atletico, which is looking to advance to its second Champions League final in three years, held on from there and will take the one-goal edge into the second leg between the two sides next Tuesday at Allianz Arena in Munich.

Bayern Munich had a barrage of chances, including a David Alaba screamer from 35 yards out that hit the bar early in the second half:

Later, Fernando Torres nearly doubled Atletico's lead with a shot off the outside of his foot, but his effort rattled off the post. A second attempt by Koke was saved by Neuer.

In the other semifinal matchup, Manchester City and Real Madrid played a scoreless draw in the first leg, and they'll take that series to Madrid's Estadio Santiago Bernabeu next Wednesday.
