The state and direction of U.S. Soccer are hot-button topics, and they were at the center of a panel discussion at a recent rally hosted by the American Outlaws, the U.S. national teams' boisterous supporters group.

SI's Grant Wahl was able to take part in the panel in Austin, Texas, along with current U.S. assistant coach and former great Tab Ramos, former U.S. defender Jimmy Conrad and former U.S. women's standout Kristine Lilly.

The wide-ranging panel touched on Jurgen Klinsmann, youth development, the growth of U.S. Soccer and where the sport is headed in this country, with much more in between.
