Steaua Bucharest’s 5–0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City wasn’t the only indignation the club suffered on Tuesday.
Before the game, Steaua fans held up placards to form a tifo in one end of the stadium. Little did they know, the tifo had been organized by fans of staunch rival Dinamo Bucharest.
“Only Dinamo Bucharest,” the signs read.
This sort of thing has also happened in American sports, of course. Most notably, before the Harvard-Yale game in 2004, Yale fans tricked Harvard fans into forming a massive banner that proclaimed, “WE SUCK.”
