Old Dominion QB Taylor Heinecke breaks NCAA total offense record

Old Dominion quarterback Taylor Heinecke broke the NCAA record for total offense in one game on Saturday with 791 yards.

Heinecke completed 55 of 79 pass attempts for a Division-I record 730 yards and added 61 yards on the ground in Old Dominion's 64-61 victory over New Hampshire.

That broke the record of Houston's David Klinger, who had 716 yards passing and 16 yards rushing on Dec. 2, 1990 against Arizona State.

Heinicke also set new school records for completions, attempts, and passing yards in a single game. The All-Division passing record is 736 yards by Eureka College (Division III) quarterback Sam Durley in his team's 62-55 win against Knox earlier this year.
