Notre Dame Recruiting Roundup - February 19th

In this story:
It was yet another busy week for Notre Dame football, including the offensive coordinator hunt finally coming to an end, some drama with the administration and a condescending email. Lost in all of that drama, there was also another busy week on the recruiting trail.
Despite being a dead period, more and more 2024 recruits are beginning to finalize travel plans this spring and summer. There were also another seven recruits who were extended offers.
The recruiting world truly never sleeps.
In a little bit of related, but not totally related recruiting fun, I decided to take a deeper look at the most recent battle between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. There is a constant conversation about how much stars matter, so I decided to break down how each of the rosters were formatted (key players) from a recruiting ranking perspective.
Let’s take a look at everything that happened in this week of recruiting. It was entertaining, as it always is.
LATEST RECRUITING NEWS
The biggest bit of recruiting news this week was that Long Beach (Calif.) Poly wide receiver Jason Robinson Jr., who is a top target for Notre Dame in 2024, decommitted from his USC pledge on Tuesday. It was a move that wasn’t totally a shock but still a key player coming back on the market for the Irish.
Robinson and his mother, Miki Robinson, were kind enough to do two interviews with Irish Breakdown. It was so much good information that they were the focus of two articles this week.
The first centered around Robinson’s decision to decommit. It wasn’t an easy decision but ultimately one that the family prayed on and allowed Jason the autonomy to make in the end.
Then, of course, there is a big question of just how much Notre Dame is in this potential recruiting battle. The Robinsons have some keen insight on their relationship with the Notre Dame staff and wide receiver Coach Chansi Stuckey.
I also did a deep dive into yet another talented crop of 2024 recruits in the state of Georgia, including some key targets that Notre Dame is hoping to land. They have had sporadic success in the state over the years but when they have, it has been substantial.
They will need to make their presence felt this cycle.
RECENT PROSPECT INTERVIEWS
In a recent interview, 2024 Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco safety Jason Mitchell went in depth on his transition from Serra High School this off-season, his recruitment and potential visit schedule this spring and summer. Slight spoiler alert, it sounds like South Bend will be one of those destinations.
2024 Theodore (Al.) High School defender Cameron Pruitt was another talented defender who was offered this week. The Alabama standout is one of the more physical defenders in the 2024 recruiting class.
The Notre Dame staff is targeting him as a potential Rover and he fits that spot perfectly. Pruitt is an extremely interesting player to keep a close eye on.
The Irish also extended an offer to 2024 Charlotte (N.C.) Christian wide receiver Micah Gilbert, who is the teammate of Notre Dame defensive end target Bryce Young. Gilbert is also the younger brother of former Duke star cornerback Mark Gilbert.
NEW OFFERS
Here are all of the talented recruits who were offered by the staff this week. The list is compromised of all 2024 recruits.
