It's a big week for 12 former Oregon Ducks, as the NFL Scouting Combine kicks off on Thursday. Invited athletes from all over the country are hoping to make an impression on NFL scouts in hopes for a higher selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. According to Oregon defensive lineman Jordan Burch, he's met with the Dallas Cowboys.

Burch spoke with the press on Wednesday, along with fellow defensive linemen Jamaree Caldwell and Derrick Harmon, and linebacker Jeffrey Bassa. During that media availability, Burch shared he met with the Dallas Cowboys to talk about his potential future with the team.

"They kind of like, showed a lot of plays up. Kind of like critique some and show some good plays too. I think it went really well and that was a great meeting overall," Burch said.

Each NFL team, including the Cowboys, can have formal interviews with 45 players at the combine. It can be an indication that a team is interested in drafting a prospect, but sometimes an NFL team will draft a team they have not met with.

Throughout his two seasons with the Ducks after transferring from South Carolina, Burch has been a major asset for stopping opposing offenses' rhythms. In the 2024 season, Burch recorded 31 total tackles (including 13 solo tackles), a mouth-dropping 8.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one recovered fumble which came in the first quarter of Oregon's game against the Michigan State Spartans. He also ran a fake punt for 36-yards during Oregon's contest against Maryland.

Keep in mind, Burch was putting up these numbers even after missing four games due to injury and a persistent knee issue.

But Burch wants to show the NFL scouts at the combine he's more than just a big body with hard hits, he's quick too. Burch shared that he feels his speed is overlooked.

"I would say my quickness. People sleep on it a little bit but I've got a lot of moves in my arsenal. I usually go to the ones that work 95% of the time but when I need to switch it up I can," Burch said.

So with his speed in mind, Burch shared his main goal for the combine.

"Mostly the 40 (yard dash). I'm trying to get the 40 down. But I'm going to focus on all of them," Burch said. "I say for the 40, (my goal is) probably 4.6 (seconds)."

4.6 seconds is quite the lofty goal for a 295lb defensive lineman, but Burch is determined. In his draft profile, the analysis of Burch claims he lacks decisiveness in the run game and lacks urgency as a play-side run defender in 2024, so proving his rushing abilities is paramount.

Burch also opened up about his inspirations from the past and present.

"Growing up, I'd say Julius Peppers but now kind of like Rashan Gary," Burch said.

Finally, Burch was asked about the rising stars in the Ducks. When asked, Burch pointed to both defensive end Matayo Uiagalelei and Da’Juan “Dink” Ruggs.

"I said Mateo (Uiagalelei)," Burch said. "When I first got there, so his freshman year, just watching him in practice. The moves he can do. You know, he can take over the whole period so it's just a great guy to have around too. Great athlete."

"I'll say our running back, Diq (Kenyon Sadiq), he's pretty good," Burch also said. "He was just elusive. They threw him in there with the starters and you couldn't even tell that he was a freshman. So I think once he's graduates and gets to his senior year, he'll be pretty good."

The NFL Scouting Combine starts on Thursday, February 27th and lasts through Sunday, March 2nd in Indianapolis, Indiana. TV coverage of the combine is on The NFL Network.
