3rd test: Pakistan leads England by 39 runs at lunch

BIRMINGHAM, England (AP) Pakistan went to lunch with a 39-run lead over England on the third day of the third test on Friday, with captain Misbah-ul-Haq approaching his half-century.

Pakistan resumed on 257-3 and reached 336-5 in its first innings at the interval.

England seamers took two wickets in the morning before Pakistan had matched England's first innings score of 297, but Misbah hit a patient 44 off 89 balls and Sarfraz Ahmed was 20 not out.

Chris Woakes had Younis Khan (31) caught behind and Asad Shafiq couldn't score off 18 deliveries before being clean bowled by Stuart Broad.

But Misbah and Ahmed appeared untroubled by the seamers and have added 40 runs for the sixth-wicket stand as Pakistan aims to consolidate its lead on a wicket which looks good for batting.
