There we were, working on another curling story for the interwebs, and we saw the tweet.
It showed a lovely handmade stained glass artwork of the new USA Curling logo. And it’s a beauty.
It was posted March 20 by Matthew Moore of Washington state. In answering a tweeted query, Moore explained the work comes from an artist in Spokane who is looking at retirement (nooooooo). Moore is thinking about taking lessons from her before she stops producing lovely work like that.
And like this.
One can find assorted curling knick-knacks—such as holiday tree ornaments—that utilize stained glass, but these artworks are at another level.
In fact, I haven’t seen anything this sweet in this medium since the magnificent stained glass artwork that adorns a window wall at the Royal Montreal Curling Club, the oldest active athletic club of any sort in North America (founded in 1807).
May I strongly suggest Mr. Moore take those lessons, and as soon as possible. And then publish an e-book or make some YouTube videos and pass the knowledge on, so we can continue being thoroughly distracted.
