Spartan Ultra Endurance Obstacle Race in Iceland

Spartan’s inaugural 24-hour ultra-endurance obstacle race took place in Hveragerdi, Iceland, a town about a half-hour drive from the country’s capital in Reykjavik. More than 800 athletes from 35 countries braved freezing temperatures, 60-mph winds, sleet, snow and darkness as they raced through 6.8-miles of Icelandic terrain and geysers, filled with Spartan obstacles. There was even a mandatory gear list for competitors so they could withstand the conditions. The epic race took place against the stunning backdrop of the Northern Lights.
