LeBron James Comments on Aaron Rodgers, Packers During TNF Alternate Broadcast

LeBron James hosted a “Thursday Night Football” alternate broadcast of Packers-Titans on Amazon, and the Lakers forward had some opinions about Green Bay.

While talking with other members of The Shop, James questioned the Packers’ roster building, saying that they should have put more pieces around quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

“When you have a transcendent, franchise player, quarterback, like Aaron Rodgers…why won’t you surround that, when you’ve got the picks to maximize what he can do,” James said.

That sounds eerily similar to another situation with an aging superstar that may hit close to home for James.

James goes on to clarify that he’s talking strictly football.

The relationship between Rodgers and Green Bay has been rocky in recent years, as the quarterback hasn’t always been happy with the way the team has decided to build around him. Specifically, the Packers’ lack of investment in offensive weapons early in drafts has caused some issues. However, the two sides are committed to each other long term after agreeing to a four-year extension in the offseason.

James, meanwhile, is on a Lakers team that is off to a very slow start, coming after a season in which Los Angeles missed the playoffs for the second time in four years with James. Starting the year at 3–10, the Lakers have the third-worst record in the league.
